Workforce & ethics
We believe in opening not only doors and gates, but also our culture. For an open society. We see it as our mission to challenge and facilitate our employees. Our goal is for every employee to practise entrepreneurship and responsibility, participate and react. The basis for this is mutual trust and respect, coupled with an open and direct culture of feedback and constructive conflict.
A range of career options (intern, trainee, career returner, professional or managerial executive) plus support for professional development training bring added value for both the staff and the company. In our in-house Gilgen Academy we offer a range of courses that allow coordinated and needs-based professional development. At our onboarding day we welcome new team members from all of our Swiss locations with information about Gilgen and begin their initial training.
We hold ongoing training at our headquarters for over 40 apprentices in 9 different career areas, introduce them to the working environment and support them as they successfully complete the programme. Some have performed outstandingly and gone on to compete in skills championships.
We believe in equal pay and equal opportunities and our performance here is regularly reviewed by an external auditor. Our in-house code of conduct sets out our expectations and a group-wide whistleblowing hotline enables employees to report any breaches. The various departments provide regular training to raise awareness of the code of conduct. We register our performance in terms of corporate social responsibility (CSR) on numerous CSR platforms.
We are an international company and actively encourage diversity in our workforce. We support part-time working, gender balance in the workforce and in management and the multicultural background of our staff.
Charging stations are in place for electric cars and e-bikes to encourage carbon-free mobility. We also encourage our employees to take part in the ‘Bike to work’ scheme and commute to work by bike or a combination of bike and public transport. We encourage the use of public transport for business travel by offering appropriate subscriptions.
Our annual working hours model and working from home regulations enable employees to find a work/life balance that suits them. Our progressive terms of employment are tailored to our employees’ needs. Our events and company parties encourage an open culture of togetherness.
