The cube is meant to please

VOI Cube is a walk-in vending machine from the Migros Aare cooperative that will be installed at ten different locations in the Mittelland during a test phase. Open the sliding door for the smallest shopping paradise far and wide.

The basis for the shopping area, which is only 18 square metres in size, is a wooden cube. This was constructed over the past few months by the company Boss Holzbau in Thun: one double-leaf SL35 sliding door each from Gilgen. "The floor guide as well as the post and beam profiles of the systems were integrated into the wood and pre-assembled directly at the woodworker's," project manager Beat Hostettler explains the construction. In a further step, the drives, side parts and sashes were mechanically pre-assembled in the intermediate storage facility in Utzenstorf. Last week, the first, already installed VOI Cube was delivered to Bern's Ostring district by a low-loader. "After the final wiring, the cube was released for operation."

Next Thursday, 15 October, the first VOI Cube will be opened. And it will then be further developed on the basis of customer feedback.
