Open Day: 1000 Years of Schwarzenburg

27.08.2025

As part of the ‘1000 Years of Schwarzenburg’ anniversary celebrations, Gilgen Door Systems held an open day on 23 August 2025. Around 1,200 visitors accepted the invitation; even before the official opening, the first guests were eagerly waiting outside the entrance. The tables, lovingly decorated with flowers, even prompted cars to stop spontaneously to take a look. CEO Peter Koller welcomed the guests personally and shook numerous hands.

Flying chocolate kisses

Visitors came from the surrounding area as well as from further afield – including former employees, retirees, families, customers and many locals. A tour of the headquarters took visitors through various stations such as the glazier's workshop and the locksmith's workshop. The conversion of Building 28, the former home of the Vifian carpentry workshop, attracted particular interest.

Gilgen's apprentices provided entertainment: there was a guessing competition with 3D-printed prizes to be won, and the electronics department had a highlight in store – homemade catapults that shot chocolate marshmallows through the air at the push of a button.

Volunteer helpers

91 employees were on duty – ten of them guided visitors through various stations, while the rest worked live to give guests a real insight into everyday life at Gilgen. The last station was a culinary finale: bratwurst, grilled cheese and cool drinks ensured happy faces and full stomachs. The feedback was very positive. The day full of encounters, curiosity and joy was appreciated by Gilgen and its guests alike.
