Types of cookies

This website uses cookies. Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored locally on your computer by the web browser. Cookies cannot run programs or deliver viruses to your computer. Their sole purpose is to make Gilgen’s website more user-friendly and effective overall..

Gilgen may use the following types of cookies:
Session cookies: temporary files that are deleted as soon as the web browser is closed;
Persistent cookies: these cookies remain when the web browser is closed, but the user can delete them;
Mandatory cookies: these cookies are necessary for the operation of the website. Examples include cookies that allow you to log in to secure areas of the site;
First-party cookies (our own cookies):
- login for the protected download area and myGilgen;
- user-friendliness (e.g. temporary data for searching);
- technical administration and further development of the website.

Rejecting, revoking or deleting cookies
In the privacy settings, you can always decide which cookies you want to accept and which you do not want to accept. Alternatively, you can use your web browser settings to reject, revoke or delete all cookies. This does not apply to mandatory cookies, as the website would not function without them.

Google Maps
This website uses Google's "Google Maps API" to display maps. When Google Maps is used, Google also collects, processes and uses information about the use of the maps by visitors to the website. We have therefore integrated Google Maps into our website in such a way that data is only transmitted when you click on the map. For more information about how Google Maps receives, stores and processes information about you, please refer to the Google Maps/Google Earth Terms of Use. For more information, please see the Google Privacy Policy.

9. Web Analytics
Google Analytics
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. ("Google"), which is based in the United States. For more information about Google’s terms of use and privacy practices, please refer to the terms of use for Google Analytics and Google’s general data protection and usage provisions.

Google Analytics enables Gilgen to determine how users use this website, how they arrived at the site, which pages they visited and which links they clicked. For this purpose, tracking IDs and, if applicable, IP addresses and device information are transmitted to Google in the United States.

Please note that the data processed by Google Analytics is subject to Google's privacy policy. As a US company, Google is subject to US law. It is therefore theoretically possible that the US intelligence services could access this data under the US Cloud Act and use it for their own purposes.

Gilgen has taken various measures to protect your data, in particular
- Data processing contract with Google Ireland Limited
- IP addresses from Europe are first transmitted to a Google server in Europe and shortened there ("IP anonymization" or "IP masking"). Only then are the IP addresses transmitted to a Google server in the United States
- Proprietary user IDs do not allow user identification

You can opt out of or adjust the Google Analytics cookie in your privacy settings. Alternatively, you can adjust the settings directly in your web browser to reject, revoke or delete cookies. You can also download and install the browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.

Google signals
Finally, this website uses the Google Analytics service for a cross-device analysis of visitor flows ("Google signals"), which is carried out via a user ID. Gilgen itself receives only statistical data from Google and no personal data. You can also opt out of this data transmission in your Google account via the "personalized advertising" setting. Alternatively, you can prevent Google signals by rejecting or deactivating the Google Analytics cookie (see above under Google Analytics).

etracker
This website uses technology from etracker GmbH, based in Germany (https://www.etracker.com/en/), to collect and store data for marketing and optimization purposes. This data can be used to create user profiles under a pseudonym. Cookies can be used for this purpose. The cookies enable the web browser to be recognized. The data collected using etracker technologies will not be used to personally identify visitors to this website and will not be merged with personal data about the bearer of the pseudonym without the seperate consent of the person concerned. Further information on data protection at etracker can be found here: https://www.etracker.com/en/data-privacy-statement/

INFOnline
Our website uses the measurement method ("SZMnG") of INFOnline GmbH, based in Germany (https://www.infonline.de/en/), to determine statistical parameters about the use of our offerings. The purpose of the measurement is to statistically determine the intensity of use, the number of users of a website and the surfing behavior - on the basis of a uniform standard procedure - and thus to obtain market-wide comparable values.

Further information on data protection in the measurement process can be found on the website of INFOnline GmbH (https://www.infonline.de/en/), which operates the measurement process, the data protection website of AGOF (https://www.agof.de/datenschutzerklaerung/) and the data protection website of IVW (https://www.ivw.de/englische-version).

10. Links to other websites
Gilgen's online offerings contain links to websites of third parties. Gilgen has no influence on these websites, their content, offers or availability, or on the data protection declarations and regluations that apply there. Gilgen therefore accepts no liability.

11. Social media
We have integrated YouTube videos, a Google product, into our website, which are stored at www.youtube.com and can be played directly from our website. These are all integrated in "extended privacy mode", which means that no information about you as a user is transmitted to YouTube until you play the videos. As soon as you play a YouTube video, data about you may be transmitted to the YouTube operator. Gilgen has no control over this data transfer. The processing of this data is the responsibility of YouTube or Google and subject to their privacy policies.

12. Data recipients
We may share your data with the following categories of data recipients in order to comply with our legal and/or contractual obligations:

- sales, development and service partners

13. International data transfer
Gilgen is represented by sales, development and service partners in Europe, Asia and overseas in the respective key markets and has subsidiaries and its own service centers in various EU member states.

We may transfer your personal data to our partners, service providers, other Gilgen entities and their subcontractors worldwide to the extent necessary to provide you with the best possible service and to perform the contractually agreed work.

If it is necessary to transfer your personal data to a country that does not provide an adequate level of data protection, such as Switzerland or an EEA country, Gilgen will take appropriate protective measures, such as the use of the standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission, which have been confirmed by the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC is the data protection authority in Switzerland) and provided with a Swiss annex.

14. Data security
Gilgen shall take all appropriate organizational and technical measures to protect the confidentiality, integrity, availability and traceability of the personal data for which Gilgen is responsible. However, it is the responsibility of each user of this website to protect his or her computer and devices accordingly and, in particular, to choose a secure password for logging in to Gilgen's services and to treat the access data required for this purpose confidentially.

The protected download area, myGilgen and our Gilgen Connect services are accessed via the Internet, which is an open network accessible to anyone. Although the data transmitted between the user and Gilgen is encrypted (encrypted website), certain transport connection data such as sender and recipient addresses remain unencrypted.

15. Retention period and deletion of data
We store your personal data only for as long as is necessary and permissible in connection with the use and operation of this website or to fulfill our legal or contractual obligations and to protect our legitimate interests (e.g. clarification of a cyber security incident).

16. Your rights
You have the statutory rights to information, correction, deletion, restriction, data portability, revocation and objection with regard to your data stored by us. These rights are not unrestricted rights and may be subject to exceptions or restrictions (e.g. if your personal data has been stored for legal or contractual obligations, statutory retention obligations exist or is required for evidence purposes).

If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law or that your data protection rights have otherwise been infringed, you may contact our data protection officer by e-mail at privacygilgends.com or contact the data protection authority in the country you live and submit a complaint.

17. Amendments
We reserve the right to amend this privacy policy at any time with effect for the future. A current version is always available on the website. Please visit the website regularly to review the applicable privacy policy.
