M1 Sydney

The new city section of the M1 Line includes 15.5 kilometres of metro rail extending the existing Metro North West Line from Chatswood, below the harbour and under the Sydney Central Business District, then through to Sydenham. 

Passengers will experience Swiss quality products from Gilgen Door Systems, including seven full height Platform Screen Doors (PSD) systems for the underground stations in the city section and a half height Platform Edge Barrier (PEB) System at the aboveground Sydenham Station. These state-of-the-art systems, designed for Sydney by Gilgen, will enhance passenger safety, operational efficiency, and overall passenger experience.

In peak times, every 4 minutes the 256 installed Gilgen doorways will open and close reliably, allowing millions of passengers over the coming years to efficiently use the new M1 Metro. Gilgen is very proud to be part of the team responsible for delivering the new city section, and of our contribution to this mega project in the in the heart of one of the most famous cities of the world.
